losehill hall, castleton, derbyshire

information for the nation

Katie and I are pleased to announce that we will be getting married on Saturday, 3 September 2005 at Losehill Hall, Castleton, Derbyshire. The ceremony will take place at the hall at midday. Unfortunately due to fire regulations because of the size of the room, we are limited to a maximum of 50 at the ceremony; those that we can't fit in there, we hope to see at the evening reception.

Losehill hall is ordinarily a residential study centre, but also hosts a small number of weddings each year, and has recently been granted a license to allow us to have our marriage ceremony there also. They have a website here, which isn't quite finished; here is one with a few more details.

The hall will be available for our exclusive use from Friday evening onwards. There are 50 beds at the hall, predominantly in single and twin rooms, available for bed and breakfast; contact Jackie Delaney at Losehill for more information on availability and rates. There is further bed and breakfast available in Castleton; it's advisable to book this well in advance.

A multimap of the area

Getting there: Easiest by car, although possible by public transport. Hope is on the line between Sheffield and Manchester and there are regular trains; there are also regular buses from Sheffield and Manchester to Castleton, via Hope station (this sitemay be useful).

Things to do: The area is very popular with walkers (hence the need to book b&b's early); for example this walk around Lose Hill and Win Hill.
(Why is it called Lose Hill?)
Lots more information on the other end of a quick google. Try eg this site as a starting point.

Well we did it - the official photos are now here.

Here the pictures Katie's Mum took.
