Morituri then made a disastrous kick, which flew straight to the opposing end-zone and bounced off the pitch. After the ball had been handed to a Nightcrawler mummy on a plate, the remainder of the first half dragged by, as the elves gave the tight defensive formation of the undead as wide berth, as they ground slowly up the pitch to equalise in the dying seconds of the first half.

In the second half it was Morituri to kick again. The kicker played safe, dropping the ball square in the middle of the Nightcrawlers end, where a Throw-Ra (sp?) promptly picked it up, before slipping and falling whilst attempting to reach cover within a defensive formation of mummies. As the ball scattered, several Morituri players dodged through the undead line, knocking a Nightcrawler blitzer for six on the way through, to scoop up the ball and put the wood elves back in the lead.

At this point there were howls of protest, as it became apparent to the Morituri bench that the referee had been nobbled.

Morituri kicked again, the ball ending up just inside the undead half on the right flank. The Nightcrawler mummies immediately knocked down the elfish linemen in the Wall of Sacrificial Lambs, one of them to be stretchered from the pitch. A Nightcrawler blitzer fumbled the ball, and as it bounced clear the wood elves dodged through the undead line, scooping up the ball and making a break for the end-zone once again, in an attempt to put the result beyond doubt. The undead were slightly quicker off the mark this time, and managed to put several skeletons between the unfortunate elven catcher and the touch down, tripping him as he attempted to doge through to score. A Nightcrawler player caught the ball as it flew from the falling catcher's grasp and the resolve of the elves collapsed, as they were blattered all round the pitch, the cheating bastard referee turning a blind eye to foul after foul, as 5 wood-elves were stretchered off the field in various states of injury and unconsciousness before the Nightcrawlers levelled the score again, in the dying moments of the match.
