Match report - Match day 1
The Ugly Bleeders 1 - 4 Morituri
Wednesday May 27

For the first moments of this season opening game, as the Bleeders fumbled the pick-up of Morituri's accurate kick, it became apparent that they had, as usual, not spent the off-season training but had mostly been in the pub.

And so it continued. Following the Orc's initial cock-up, the sharper, classier Morituri side grabbed the ball and ran as far away as possible from the Orcs, which happened to be into the end zone for a TD. A desparate lunge from an Orc blitzer earnt him the rest of the game on the sidelines and a niggling injury.

The Bleeders then staged a minor revival and spent most of the rest of the first half grinding up the pitch. But the hits they were trying to land on the way were failing to connect and the Elves didn't suffer any injuries. Finally the Orcs managed to push on for a touchdown just before half time.

This seemed to be the impetus Morituri needed. Seeing the Bleeders were off the pace, in the second half they went for the jugular, and scored another three times, running rings round their opponents.

The Orc side became increasingly desparate, but everything they attempted ended in miserable failure. After the second score, they threw caution to the wind and started fouling left, right and centre, with the ref seemingly taking pity on them and ignoring all the fouls.

Despite this help from the ref, the Orcs were so incompetent they couldn't even manage to stamp on Elf heads properly, and consistently missed. After the third goal the ref got tired of their performance and sent an Orc off, which led to the fourth Morituri goal.

A miserable start to the season for The Ugly Bleeders and a blinder for Morituri.
